Expertly trained, highly skilled, intensely loyal
Military dogs are frequently used for detection work, helping their handlers sniff out improvised explosive devices (IEDs), mines, or enemy combatants. Others are trained for intimidation and protection. And some provide surveillance, often wearing vests equipped with cameras and microphones that provide military personnel with audio and video in areas they may not otherwise be able to observe.
Police dogs are given specialized training to assist police officers, firefighters, and other law enforcement personnel. This training allows them to handle a variety of tasks humans aren't equipped for, including sniffing out drugs or explosives, tracking down missing people, or protecting their handlers.
Service dogs are loyal companions for people with disabilities. They can be the eyes and ears for the blind and deaf, provide psychiatric or emotional support, or even lend stability to those who may need a little help with balance.
